ISRO plans multiple test flights ahead of the final launch, expected in the coming years.
Global Response
International agencies are closely tracking India’s progress. Russia’s Roscosmos has already trained Indian astronauts in survival skills, while agencies such as NASA and ESA have extended cooperation in various areas.
The global space community has praised India’s cost-effective approach and technological advancements, especially after the success of Chandrayaan-3 and the ongoing Aditya-L1 mission.
Why It Matters for India
Experts say Gaganyaan will be a game-changer for India’s space programme. Apart from boosting defence and strategic capabilities, the mission is expected to strengthen India’s position in the $600-billion global space economy.
Former astronaut Rakesh Sharma commented, “Gaganyaan is not just a mission; it’s India’s ticket to join the human spaceflight club. The fact that Shubhanshu Shukla says the whole world knows about it shows the scale of its impact.”
