Guwahati: Around 40,000 Class 12 students have registered for CBSE‘s answer-script verification and re-evaluation process, the board said on Wednesday.
According to CBSE, students have been able to complete the application process without any major difficulties so far.
The board also clarified that several payment options are available on the portal. Students can use payment gateways provided by State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda and Indian Bank.
CBSE said candidates do not need to have accounts with any of these banks to make payments. Fees can be paid through UPI, net banking, debit cards and credit cards.
The board advised students and parents to follow only official CBSE announcements for updates related to the process.
The portal, which became available on June 2, allows students to report issues in scanned copies of answer sheets and apply for re-evaluation if they are dissatisfied with their marks.
The facility will remain open until midnight on June 6, after which no further requests will be accepted.
The process started later than originally expected, as CBSE had earlier indicated that applications would open by May 29.
The exercise comes amid controversy surrounding the board’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
Several students have alleged that the scanned answer sheets uploaded by CBSE did not match their handwriting, triggering concerns over possible mix-ups during digital evaluation.
The board has also faced criticism over technical issues, failed payments and delays in accessing verification services.
CBSE recently disclosed that the portal was targeted by a series of cyberattacks. These included a denial-of-service attack that generated nearly 1.5 million hits within two minutes, as well as more than one lakh attempts to gain unauthorised access to files.
The controversy has also been accompanied by changes in the board’s top leadership. Lokhande Prashant Sitaram has been appointed CBSE chairperson, while Varun Bhardwaj has taken charge as secretary.
Sitaram, a 2001-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs. He succeeds Rahul Singh as CBSE chairperson after receiving approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Secretariat has set up a one-member committee to examine issues related to the procurement of services for the On-Screen Marking system.
The panel will be headed by S. Radha Chauhan, Chairperson of the Capacity Building Commission.
The committee has been tasked with examining concerns related to the procurement process and rollout of the digital evaluation system.
