Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to about 1,326 selected candidates across nine State government departments at a Nijukti Mela at the Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
According to official sources, the Housing and Urban Development Department has the highest number of appointments, with 364 candidates receiving job letters. It is followed closely by the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department, which accounts for 361 appointments.
At least 240 candidates received appointment letters for the Energy Department, while 118 appointments were allocated to the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department. Around 111 candidates were appointed in the Health and Family Welfare Department.
The remaining appointments are spread across five other departments. The Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department accounts for 86 appointments, while 26 candidates were appointed under the Sports and Youth Services Department.
The Skill Development and Technical Education Department and the Excise Department each have 10 appointments.
The recruitment programme is part of the Odisha government’s continuing initiative to provide employment opportunities to young people across the State. The Nijukti Mela was aimed at formally handing over appointment letters to selected candidates and marking their entry into government service.
The distribution of the 1,326 job letters will provide a significant employment boost to candidates selected for various posts across the nine departments.
This is the 16th Nijukti Mela, and we continue our efforts towards our commitment to the youth of the State. Our (BJP-led) government will give appointment to 1,326 candidates today in nine different departments,” the Chief Minister said in his address.
“Starting from 2024 till date, we have given appointments to around 45,408 eligible youths through 16 Nijukti Melas. Within just two years, fulfilling such a large number of targets and keeping the promises made to the youths prove that the government is a people’s government. The appointments aimed to strengthen the administrative system and help reach the benefits of welfare schemes to the grassroots level,” the CM added.
